INTERVIEW WITH COCO ALEX
Nigerian-born fashion model and creative vixen, Oluwaseunayo Alex Omowuyi is well regarded and widely known for her positive freshness and attitude maintained throughout long shoots. The high energy she takes on fashion photography, helps create pictures with a vulnerable yet sensual vibe.
Omowuyi, popularly known as Coco had a discourse with OT’Chik Moments where she shares her photographic roots and what inspires her work. Here is her interview accompanied by one of her latest photos.
How did you come to be a model and what was (were) your inspiration?
I listened to a lot of advice here and there urging me to go into the modeling industry. I goggled all i thought i needed to know about modeling and beyond. I decided to try out my first photoshoot with a photographer, it didn’t end well and so I decided to go for trainings and castings from there I discovered my niche.
What does your typical day as a model of your status look like?
If I am not on set working, I am home sleeping, surfing the internet; especially Pinterest for moods, I do skincare, eat, relax and sleep and yeah I pray too. Can I say I am an introvert? 😂
The modeling industry is quite dominated by people who see nudity as way of expressing confidence in their bodies. As someone who is often posing for cameras, how do you see nudity in entertainment and is it something you’re comfortable with?
First, i don’t judge people’s hustle but then i think the only place where nudes are not acceptable is in African countries. Especially Nigeria, hahaha!
I see nudes as an art but most people do nudes for clout, followers and likes and not for the Art. I could be comfortable, if the photographer’s vibe is Equal to mine.
What has been the most surprising element of your job?
Getting to meet people who already know me through my pictures, meeting famous and intelligent persons then we learn and get to know each other.
What challenges did you encounter while pursuing your career as a model and how have you been able to overcome them?
First my height ran away!!!! My height was the most challenging because most clients/agencies needs above 5″9 models whereas I am 5″7½(171cm). Then my body size.🤦🏿♀
I am size 4 and itt quite difficult for Nigerians and the Nigerian entertainment industry to adapt to the fact that we are needful too and not sick 😂
If you could pick any celebrity or model to work with, whom will it be? Why?
I have a lot of great persons and lifestyle influencers i have written down in my note pad. But if not Adutakech, why not Adutakech? She’s a super model and a great talent plus I heard we look a bit a like so 😂😂 and yeah I really love Nancy Isime too
